Odell James, a native of Prichard, AL and resident of Mobile, AL passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the age of 71.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father that enjoyed being surrounded by his family, traveling, and serving his church. He was a longtime member of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was a prominent member of the choir. Odell was a skilled tradesman and entrepreneur, building his company, Odell James Concrete, from the ground up. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Marie Simpson (Mike Simpson Sr.); father, Ledell James Sr; brothers: Ledell James Jr (Littie Pearl) and Mike Simpson Jr; sister, Claudia Stallworth; and niece, Marsha Stallworth Ratchford. He is survived by his adoring wife, Lillie Pearl James; children: Demetrius James (John Edward), Marquis James (Rosette), and Tamica James (Jillian); grandchildren: Bria James and Kia Smith; great-grandchild, Carson Alexander; loving siblings: Maxine WIlliams (Stanley), Deborah Simpson, Tony Simpson, Angela Thomas (Elliot), and Darryl Simpson (Pam); and a host other loving relatives. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home located at 6040 Three Notch Road Mobile, AL 36619. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church located at 210 W. Clark Ave Prichard, AL 36610, followed by graveside services and interment at Mobile Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com. To the James family; We are so very sorry for your loss. Mr. Odell James was like a father to Jason and I both. He was the BEST! We will always love him. HIs smile will be etched in our hearts forever. Mr. James was one of a kind and will never be forgotten. He fought a long hard fight. It's time for him to rest now.
