I served in the Army.

James E. Shepherd, age 75, of Semmes, passed away Friday, April 5, 2019, at his home.

James was a native of Mobile and worked at Wigley and Culp for 30 years. He served honorably in the United States Army Reserves. James was a diehard Alabama fan and a NASCAR enthusiast. Above all else, his greatest joy and love was his family.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brandi M. Strickland.

Survivors include his wife, Lenda Shepherd; son, Chad (Dana) Shepherd; son-in-law, Dale Strickland; grandchildren, Courtney (Jake) Turberville, Victoria Shepherd, Austin Shepherd, Landen Strickland, and Karlyn Strickland; sisters, Sybil (James) Ziegler and Carolyn (Bobby) Miller; and brother, Keith (Carolyn) Shepherd.

Pallbearers will be Austin Shepherd, Landen Strickland, Brian Shepherd, Eddie Patrick, Dwayne Whittington, and Jake Turberville.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, April 11, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 11, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Mr. Archie Allred officiating. Burial will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

    Lenda words can not say what I feel right now, you and James have for many years been very special to me and my family. I was so pleased that Eddie and his family live
    across the street from, I knew if they needed anything you and James would be there. We will always love and miss James.     James couldn't have loved his family more. Everyone who knew James was aware of his love for his kids, Lenda, and later his grandkids. You also knew what a Bama fan he was. James had a heart as big as anyone. I appreciated him and Johnny taking me along with them to Tuscaloosa to tail gate in style. You will always be loved and missed. Eddie
