Albert Rudolph (G-Daddy) Newberry, 86, Of Mobile, AL, passed away on September 25, 2018, in Mobile, AL.
Mr. Newberry was born in Walnut Hill, FL, to Angus and Elma Newberry on January 11, 1932. He attended Baker High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Central Truck Lines in 1983 after a lengthy career as a truck driver. He was a faithful member of Woodridge Baptist Church.
Mr. Newberry is survived by his wife of 67 years, Freda Jean Newberry; children, George Michael (Tammy) Newberry, Albert Anthony Newberry, Margret Patricia (Charles) Jones, and Peggy Suzanne (Scott) McGallagher; grandchildren, Nathan Newberry, Randall Starling, Charles (Katie) Jones, Brandon (Melinda) Starling, Kayla (Ryan) Read, Stephanie (Wesley) Johnson, Wesley (Casey) Newberry, and Courtney Newberry; and great-grandchildren, Blake, Jacob, Bella, Hayden, Kaleb, Joah, Connor, Dakota, Beckham, Daisy and Grayson. He is also survived by his siblings, Benny (Janie) Newberry, Loretta (Phillip) Cassibry, and Joann Grissett, as well as a hosts of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Idanette Walters, and Donald Newberry, and daughter- in- law, Debbie Newberry.
Visitation will be held at Woodridge Baptist Church on Friday, September 28, 2018, at 5:00 pm, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Funeral Services will be held at Woodridge Baptist Church, 2700 Schillinger Road, on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at 11:00 am, with Dr. Mack Morris and Bro Garry Harred officiating. Burial will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements. Pallbearers will be Nathan Newberry, Charlie Jones, Wesley Newberry, Wes Johnson, Hayden Engel, and Taylor Gatwood. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mr. Newberry’s Sunday School class from Woodridge Baptist Church.
