Bobby “Bob” Gene Swindle, a native of Clewiston, FL, longtime resident of Mobile, AL and current resident of Fairhope, AL, died Friday, November 30, 2018 at the age of 80. He worked as a young man for Winn Dixie Grocery Stores as their youngest store manager. As a resident of Mobile, he served in the National Guard, the Jaycees of Mobile and worked for Lousianne Coffee, Falstaff Brewing Company and Scott Paper Company. Bob was a longtime pastor, serving at Covenant Church for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Elizabeth “Betty” Haven Swindle; three brothers, John Swindle, Calvin Swindle and Edward Swindle; and brother-in-law, Ferrill Louis Gibbs. His survivors include his wife of 60 years, Margaret Sue Gibbs Swindle; his children, Jane Stromberg Pineda (Ron), Robert Eugene Swindle, Sr. and Nancy Swindle Sherrell; his grandchildren, Ainsley Taylor (Nathan), Austin Stromberg (Andrea), Brieanna Stromberg, Shelby Swindle Wilson (Erik), Robert Eugene Swindle, Jr., Pierce Davis Swindle, John Gibbs Sherrell, Judson Gottlieb Sherrell and Ann Haven Jane Sherrell; great-grandchildren, Lilly Carson Wilson, Ivy Scott Wilson and Nora Elizabeth Taylor; his brother, Billy (Judy) Swindle; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Swindle, Yvonne Swindle, Nancy Swindle, and Linnie Gibbs; brothers-in-law, Guy Binegar (Judy) and John A. Bost (Martha Sue); nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Charles Simpson and Rev. Guy Binegar, will be held Friday, December 7, 2018 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 AM until service time.
