WHITE, SR.
Ashbel Hubbard White, Sr., age 87 a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, died on Thursday, January 3, 2019 He is survived by his spouse of 68 years, Barbara (Swan) White; five children, Deborah Huller of Maryville, TN, Tony White, Karen Blackard, Angela Bolanos and Donna Carney; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two sisters, Carolyn Crane and Patsy Smith; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his son, Ashbel Hubbard White, Jr.; his sister Delores Bubenchik; brothers, Teddy, Norman and Billy. Ashbel graduated from McGill Institute in 1949 and was a retired Master Sergeant with the Army National Guard Dixie Division. He was actively involved with Springhill Little League. Ashbel was a Master Mason of the Toulmin Lodge #875 F&AM and was a retired Sergeant with the Mobile Police Department. Visitation will be Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 11 to 12 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Masonic Graveside services to follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens. The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children

    Ashbel was a great friend of my husband Rab Turk, and quite a character. Once I met him he was my friend too. Condolences to his wife Barbara and his Family.

    Uncle Ashbel was with me when I caught my first fish at age 6. He explained that it would bring me good luck if I hid it under my pillow. I needed more than luck when my mom found the origin of the foul odor 3 days later. He was
    the best. Sadly missed.

    We are saddened to hear of Ashbel's death, but know that he is in a better place. He fought hard for several years, but is now at total peace with our Lord. Our thoughts and prayers to all of the family.
