He started a life insurance agency in Thomasville and in 1956 relocated to Mobile. During his successful lifelong career of serving his clients he held leadership positions in several industry associations and received numerous awards. On arriving in Mobile he joined the Junior Chamber of Commerce and met many lifelong friends. One
close friend was Jack Edwards who, upon winning the race for U. S. Congress, chose Charlie to be his District Field Representative. This was the beginning of a passion for politics and he was active in many successful campaigns with his friend Bill Yeager.
He loved people and was a leader in many civic and business organizations.
In addition to his family his greatest love and work was for the Lord. He was a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and prayer warrior. He was a founding member of Here’s Life Africa and was proud of the growth and number of lives touched with the water wells drilled and showing of the Jesus film through this ministry.
