Alma Glee Busby Barnes, age 86, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026. She was born on February 17, 1940, in Waynesboro, Mississippi.

Alma was married to William A. Barnes (deceased) for fifty years, and together they spent most of their life in Mobile, where they raised their three sons. They enjoyed watching their boys play sports, camping in their RV, boating, water skiing and bowling. After caring for Mr. Barnes until his passing, Alma felt called to care for the elderly-a role she embraced with compassion until she was no longer physically able. She was a gifted cook of good old-fashioned Southern food and found comfort and joy in reading her Bible.

She is survived by:

Greg Barnes, stepson, of Birmingham, Alabama, and his children Jennifer and Dalton.

David Barnes and his wife Lynn of Mobile, Alabama; their son Justin Barnes and his wife Ashley and their children Rylee, Grayson, and Callen; and their daughter Katie Barnes Guin and her husband Jake and their children Hallie Kate and new addition Wesley; their daughter Kortney Barnes Webb and her husband Jack.

John Dwayne Barnes of Mobile, Alabama; his daughter Madison Barnes and her son Charlie; and his daughter Caroline Barnes.
Steve Barnes and his wife Karen of Cumming, Georgia; their daughter Angela Barnes Percy and her husband Will and their daughter Madeleine, with another child expected.

Alma is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She especially loved her Waynesboro friends and family, bowling friends, and her church family from Azalea City Church of Christ.

Alma, also called Maw Maw, deeply loved her sons, but she found her greatest joy in becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother. After raising all boys, she especially cherished welcoming a few girls into the family.
