Obituary

Annie Laurie Drew

Annie Laurie Drew, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026. She was born on May 28, 1937, to Irene and Otis Smith. She attended Theodore High School and graduated in 1955. She later worked as an accountant for Morrison's Incorporated.

Annie Drew was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a woman of strong faith who loved Jesus and treasured her Bible. Her faith was an important part of her life and was reflected in the way she cared for others, the stories she shared, and the example she set. She had a gift for making those around her feel welcomed and cared for, often through the simplest moments.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Otis Smith; her first husband Joe Stanfill and her second husband Lewis Drew; her brother, A.C. Smith; her sons, David Stanfill and Mitchell Stanfill; and her grandson, Aaron Connell.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Connell (Timmy); her son, Michael Stanfill (Monica); her daughter-in-law, Peggy Stanfill; her sister-in-law, Virginia "Geni" Smith; her stepsons, Curtis Drew (Adrienne) and Timmy Drew (Lori); her grandchildren, Melissa Brand (John), Brandon Connell (Jeanette), Nicole Landrum (Caleb), Coleman Drew, Chandler Stanfill, and Cara Stanfill; and her great-grandchildren, Annsley Connell, Braylee Connell, Annamarie Connell, and Elliott Connell.

Annie Drew will be remembered for the stories she told, the wisdom she shared, and the moments that made her presence special. Her family will carry those memories with them and pass them down to the generations that follow.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she loved throughout her life. Though she will be deeply missed, the impact of her life will remain in all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 21, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with Frank Huckabee of Forest Park Bible Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 10 a.m. Flowers can be sent to Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
