Arlene Wooten Davis, 85, of Sylva, NC, passed away on February 17, 2024. Arlene was born on September 21, 1938 to Willie Wooten and Lucile Johnson Wooten in Jacksonville, GA. She worked as a switchboard operator, customer service representative and recently as a receptionist at University/Azalea Animal Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. She was very active in her church activities serving as WMU leader, VBS teacher, choir member, 5th grade and adult women's Sunday School teacher. When she was not busy serving at church, Arlene also loved bowling, latch hook rugs, playing the piano, solving puzzles, and reading.
Arlene is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Davis; mother, Lucile Johnson Wooten; father, Willie Wooten; sisters, Laulene Bozeman and Shirley Glover.
She is survived by her daughters, Beverly (Richard) Broxson and Pamela Davis of Sylva, North Carolina; grandchildren, Jeremy (Natalie) Dreaden of Camarillo, CA; Leah (Karl) Giometti of Western Australia; Dalton (Madelyn) Allen of Panama City, FL; Ashtynne (Grayson) Allen of Bay Minette, AL; Allison (Danny) Brooks of Yorktown, VA; Melissa (Trent) Goss of Braselton, GA; great-grandchildren, Genesis and Adam Dreaden, Hudson Giometti, Eleanor Allen, Grace Carlan, DJ, Brianna, Cannon, Savannah, and Grayson Brooks, Laurinda Broxson and Abigail Sheffield; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
To honor the life of Arlene, a funeral service will be held for her on Saturday February 24, 2024 at 2:00 pm from the graveside at Mobile Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday February 24th at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Heart Association or Mobile SPCA.
