Betty Lott

March 22, 1943 — May 8, 2024

Mrs. Betty Sellers Lott passed away on May 8th from complications of heart surgery. Betty was born in Mackenzie, Al. to John D. Rockefeller and Carrie Smith in 1943. Preceding her in death are her parents, her sister Hazel McCarter, brother John Smith, and her husband Ray Sellers and second husband Joe Lott.

Betty had a passion for life as evidenced by her many travels around the world, riding motorcycles with her husband Ray, and her many careers. She and Ray instilled a love of travel and adventure in their two daughters.

Among her many careers were real estate, retail, bookkeeping, and finally she retired from being a Corrections Officer at Tutwiler Correctional Facility for women. Everyone who knew Betty knew her to be talkative, funny, and friendly. She loved life and had hoped to live much longer.

She loved her family and would do anything to protect them. She will be desperately missed by her daughters Kim Sellers and Kay Dement, and their husbands Jamie Bishop and Gary Dement. She loved her grandson Travis Dement and will be missed by him, his wife Lindsey Dement and their child Brooks. She adored her great grandson and was hoping to see him grow up. She will also be missed by the many friends that she had who loved being around the fun-loving life of the party that Betty was.

In lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite charity in her name. She loved animals and she hated the thought of any person or animal being hungry.
