Beulah Ashmore

July 20, 1917 — November 30, 2015

Beulah McLaughlin Ashmore, 98
Mrs. Ashmore departed this life on November 30, 2015, after years of nursing and hospice care at the Crowne Health Services in Mobile, AL. Mrs. Ashmore was born in Erwin, TN on July 20, 1917, and came to Mobile, AL in 1941 as part of the giant work force created by the December 7th attack on Pearl Harbor. Prior to moving to Mobile she had studied aeronautics in Memphis, TN and was assigned to Mobile's Brookley Field (later Brookley Air Force Base). Mrs. Ashmore worked in engine repair, rebuilding magnetos for B-17, B-25, and B-24 bombers destined for the European theater during WWII, one of which was The Memphis Belle. Following the war she worked for Sears and Roebuck for several years prior to joining the motor service of the American Red Cross delivering blood to hospitals in a three state area. Later, she joined the Mobile Police Department and worked for twenty years as a Crossing Officer at the Little Flower Catholic School. During those years she also served as the Chaplin for the Fraternal Order of Police. Mrs. Ashmore touched many lives and, in turn, she was touched by many lives. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Bradford Ashmore, Sr., and survived by one son, Louis Bradford Ashmore, Jr. of Homewood, AL. She is also survived by Joe and Yani Logan, her long time next door neighbors whom she loved as her own. Their love and care for her will forever be appreciated by Brad. Visitation will be held Monday, December 7, 2015 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment in Mobile Memorial Gardens will follow at 12:00 Noon. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
