Rev. Billy Duke, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful servant of Christ, met Jesus face-to-face after a life of love and ministry.
For more than 50 years, Brother Billy was a pastor at Covenant Church of Mobile, where he served with compassion, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to God's Word. Though he mentored many pastors in other cities and states, his deepest calling-and greatest joy-was to be a true shepherd of God's people: present in their joys and sorrows, generous with his time, diligent in pastoral care, and steadfast in prayer.
He was born on August 1st, 1936, in Gulf Hammock, Florida. He spent most of his life in Alabama and worked for Geigy Chemical Corporation for many years before joining the ministry full time.
He found great joy in spending time with his family and being outdoors. He especially loved visiting and hiking in the mountains.
He is survived by Betty, his wife of nearly 70 years; his daughter Rebecca Hinson (Buddy); his granddaughters Allison and Katelyn (Jessica); his great-grandson Dylan; his great-granddaughters Camilla and Hallie; several dear nieces, nephews, and other extended family members; and many close friends. He is preceded in death by his son Randall and grandson Christopher; his parents John W. and Dixie Marie; and his three siblings John Jr., Carol Ann Collins and Dixie Lee Forman.
In keeping with the family's wishes, a private service will be held at a later date.
Those who knew Brother Billy will remember his tender heart, steady encouragement, and passion to see God's purpose fulfilled on Earth. His legacy of faith will continue to shape lives for years to come.
