Bobbye Godwin

Bobbye Lee Herrington Godwin

Born on May 27, 1932, in Quitman, MS went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the early morning hours of May 26, 2022.

She married her husband of 54 years, Reedy on January 6, 1950. After living in Plateau, AL, they moved to Theodore, AL in 1958, where they built their home, joined the First Baptist Church of Theodore, and raised their family. Bobbye actively served her church in the nursery for over 40 years. She loved music and would often be heard humming and singing throughout the day. She also served as a poll worker for numerous elections, as a volunteer teacher's aide at Nan Gray Davis Elementary School, and as a member of the band boosters club for Theodore High School.

She had an exuberant smile and joy for life that was infectious and radiated love to everyone she met.

Bobbye is preceded in death by her husband Reedy (Al R.) Godwin, Jr., her son Alan Lee Godwin, her parents Frances (nee Burt) Herrington Pollei and Lee Lamar Herrington, her sister Tommye Jean (nee Herrington) Brent, and her brother Everett Wayne Herrington.

She is survived by her son Paul E. Godwin, daughter Patti O. Godwin, daughter-in-law Janet (Godwin) McCollum, grandchildren Mathieu D. Dantzler, Amy L. Godwin, and Jason A. Godwin, great-grandchildren Davin Godwin, Jackson Dantzler, and Greyson Corbett, her brother Jackie L. Herrington, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
