Carolyn Johnson

Carolyn Bridges Johnson, 72, beloved Wife, Mother, GranMaMa, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, was called to her eternal resting place on June 7, 2020. She was a native Mobilian and long time resident of Daphne, Al.

She worked many years alongside Eva Golson helping revitalize the beautiful City of Mobile. She was well known for her love of family, generosity, and hospitality. She was a true southern belle and had a southern accent so beautiful that people would call the Mobile Welcome Center just to hear her speak. She loved traveling and spoiling her grandsons. She was deeply loved by her brothers and sisters-n-law and was lovingly called "Sister" by them all.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Leighton E. Johnson; parents, James and Hildred Bridges; and brother, Rudolph M. Bridges.

She is survived by her daughter Amy Johnson Strickland (Scott); grandsons, Gregory and Cleighton Strickland; brothers, James Bridges (Adonna); Randy Bridges (Marsha); Dennis Bridges (Robyn); sister-in-law Retha Bridges; and nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, June 12, 2020 from 10 AM to 12 noon, chapel service and graveside to follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Services will be officiated by Rev. Danny Cresswell. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the National Kidney Foundation or The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
