It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cathy Jones Vickers, who went to be with the Lord after a short battle with pancreatic cancer on May 9, 2026, at the age of 72. Cathy was born on May 10, 1953 in Greenville, South Carolina. Cathy graduated from Theodore High School in 1971, where she met the love of her life, Steve Vickers. They married on September 9, 1971, when she was just eighteen years old. She was a resident of Theodore, Alabama for many years before moving to her dream home in Dauphin Island, Alabama. Cathy and Steve loved to sit on the porch and watch the birds, sunrises, and sunsets each day.
For 54 wonderful years, Cathy and Steve shared a marriage filled with deep love, unwavering devotion, and endless laughter. Together they built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and cherished memories. Through every joy and challenge, they remained one another's best friend and constant source of strength. Their love story was an inspiration to all who knew them, and the warmth, happiness, and laughter they shared will forever live on in the hearts of their family and friends.
Cathy was a devoted wife, mother, Mimi, sister, aunt, and dear friend whose sweet spirit touched everyone who knew her. She loved deeply, prayed faithfully, and had a special way of making every person feel seen, valued, and loved. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She always went above and beyond to make sure that she was present for every event they each participated in and was their biggest fan!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellen Tinsley Robertson, Hugh "Bob" Robertson, and Robert Jones.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her husband, Steve Vickers; her children, Stevie (April) Vickers and Angela (Jared) Lincecum; and her treasured grandchildren, Abbie (Drew) Murray, Ally (Sean) Mahler, Emma Lincecum, Colton Vickers, and John Cade Lincecum. She is also survived by her siblings, Mike Jones, Chris Robertson, Robby Robertson, Brad Jones, Lisa Jones, Freddy Robertson, and Kelly Brinson along with a beloved aunt Hortense Dunn, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Cathy lived a life marked by faith, love, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends. She was an avid churchgoer and longtime member of Woodridge Baptist Church. She loved her church family and her life group. She met many of her best friends through church, with one particular group who called themselves the "ya-yas". They spent many years doing life together and were always there to lean on one another in good times and bad.
Cathy's legacy of faith, compassion, strength, and unconditional love will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her.
We will celebrate Cathy's beautiful life on Thursday, May 14, 2026. In honor of her bright spirit and the joy she brought to others, the family encourages everyone to wear bright and light colors. 💛
