Charles A. Taylor Sr., a resident of Spanish Fort Al., was called home peacefully on August 18th, 2026. It was his 89th birthday. Charles was born in Mt. Pleasant TN, August 18th 1937.

Charles is proceeded in death by his parents James K. Taylor and Gladys Smith Taylor, and his sister, Shirley T. Culp.

He is survived by his wife Sandra Davis Taylor, 2 brothers, Jerry Taylor, and Robert Taylor, (Diane), his 4 children, Joanne T. Powell, (David McGreal), Charles A. Taylor, Jr., (Chuck), (Dawna McNaughton), Scott K. Taylor, (Jennifer), and Deborah T. McLellan, (Debbie), (Jason), 7 grandchildren, Michael S Powell, (Alicia), Charles A. Taylor III, (Sonny), (Lucy), Braxton S. Taylor, (MaryWyman), Madison E. Taylor, (Zack Stachurski). Sage M. Taylor, Sarah E. McLellan, and Blakeley A. Taylor. 2 step-grandchildren, Alex McGreal, (Breanna) and Aaron McGreal, (Hannah), and 2 great grandchildren, Hazel Parkes Powell and Tristan Charles Stachurski. Charles loved them with all of his heart; they were his pride and joy.

Charles spent his early childhood in Gallatin TN.; he still had friends in Gallatin that he would get to see from time to time at various school reunions.

Charle's family moved to Mobile when he was a teenager. He was a 1956 graduate of Vigor High School in Prichard, AL., there he lettered in varsity football. While at Vigor, Charles got to witness a legendary event, Elvis came to Vigor to perform October 26th, 1955, and just after 30 minutes was made to stop the show because of his, "inappropriate movements", Charles shared that story often.

During those high-school years, he met the love of his life, Sandra E. Davis, a Murphy High School student, they were set up on a blind date by two close friends. The date was all they needed, Charles and Sandra married May 30th, 1958 just days after her Murphy graduation. Sandra remained the love of his life for the next 68 years.

It is also during this time that he met and became lifelong friends with Bernie Cummings. Bernie often came to visit Charles at his home after Charles could not get out. Bernie would sit by Charles and they would talk about life, solve the world's problems, and relive their youth. They would also speak about the fact that they were getting way too old. They would talk about Vigor and the fun they had running the streets of Prichard. Charles treasured that friendship and so did his family, Charles and Sandra even named their first-born daughter after Bernie's wife Joanne, and Bernie named his first-born son Charles. The best friends are now having fun running the streets of gold.

After high school, Charles enlisted in the United States Air Force, he served 4 years. He was stationed on the Greek Isle of Crete and later stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in FL. While stationed there Charles and Sandra started their family. Joanne was born at Eglin Air Force Base in 1961. After Charles served his country, he and Sandra moved back to Mobile where they had 3 more children, Chuck, Scott and Debbie. They moved to Spanish Fort, AL in 1993.

Charles worked for Gulf City Body and Trailer Works for 42 years. He retired as Vice President/Controller in 2009.

Charles loved all things football, especially the University of Alabama. Roll Tide!, he also enjoyed the Senior Bowl every year, as well as The University of South Alabama games. Charles announced for his son's Chuck and Scott's football games at Navco Park and IMS. He later did the same for his grandson Michael at Bayside Academy. Charles attended every sporting event he could for his young family.

Charles loved to bowl, he had played basketball at the Downtown Mobile YMCA. He loved spending a day or sometimes a week at Gulfshores or Dauphin Island with his family. Disney World was also a favorite, Mickey always made it a magical place to visit. He and Sandra were also able to travel with friends to Australia, Hawaii, Alaska, and many other great destinations. They loved to cruise the Carnival when it was in the Port of Mobile. Charles also loved his fur baby Lady, she has been and will continue to be a constant source of comfort and companionship just as she has for the last 10 years.

Charles was a charter member of the Conde' Cavaliers. The organization will celebrate their 50th anniversary next year. During those almost 50 years Charles held several titles, President, Treasurer, Historian and also served as a Marshall. He helped organize many Conde' events, including the yearly Conde' Cavalier Fishing Rodeo. While serving his 2 years as president Charles affectionately became known as Rain-man because it rained on parade night both years that he was president. The Conde's were not stopped though, the parade rolled down the streets of Mobile regardless of the rain. The friendships and memories made as a Conde' were some of Charles' most cherished and today he would most certainly tell us to not be sad, he would want us to: "Laissez les bons temps rouler!".

Charles is resting easy now, resting peacefully in the arms of his Father. He is surrounded by those that have gone before him. He is smiling now and watching over those he loved. Charles is saying, "I did good, life was good, my life was full, and Sandra, I will be waiting with open arms."

Charles will never be forgotten and he will live on in our hearts forever.
