With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Chasen Joseph Sterzenback, at the age of 50, of Mobile, AL, on September 22nd, 2024.
Chase was born on May 24th, 1974, to Don & India Sterzenback in Lawton, OK. After Chase graduated from Murphy Highschool, he went on to attend University of South Alabama.
He started first job at Waller Brothers and then went to Gulf Distributing and Lenzing Fiber. Landing his 10 year career as a Chemical Operator with Evonik, where he asserted grit & determination while looking forward to his retirement in 9 years.
In the year 2013, Laurie Branson met Chase on New Years Eve. Chase and Laurie had a memorable destination wedding in St. Lucia on May 17th, 2016. Not long after, Chase taught Laurie to master the Big Green Egg which led to many evenings with friends & family on their patio. They enjoyed their years travelling with their parents, India (Jim) and Wayne (Pam), and vacations with friends & family. Chase & Laurie were also avid hunters and anglers. Chase's other activities included disc golf, golfing and had a special passion for College Football; undeniably, his favorite team being Notre Dame.
Being an only child, Chasen cherished his deeply bonded connection with his mother. Even through moments of tension, they were always there for each other. India & Chasen were never afraid to have candid conversations regarding family, love, life & work.
Chasen was predeceased by Don Sterzenback (father), Pauline and Dutch Sterzenback (grandparents), Mark Sterzenback (uncle) and Jennifer & J.J. Byerley (cousins).
He is survived by his best friend & companion for life, Laurie Lee Sterzenback (wife), their children Dillan Branson (Amanda) and Beka Branson, his affectionate parents, India (Jim) Vereen, sisters, Jaime (Brian) Neilan, Kelle (Joe) Jackson, grandparents, Alben (Jean) Byerley, uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews & nieces, and a special mention of his love and closeness for Sawyer.
Services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens on September 27th with visitation starting at 1pm, services to directly follow at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Heart Association or Alzheimer's Association in memory of Chasen Sterzenback.
