Clarence Alexander "Sonny" Gates, Jr., a native of Prichard, AL and a resident of Mobile, AL, died in a local hospital on Thursday, March 19, 2015. Sonny was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Gates; his daughter, Karen Ruth Gates; his parents, Clarence A. Gates, Sr. and Ruth Pruett Gates; and his sisters, Devern Rhodes and Jimmie Williamson. He is survived by his three sons, Richard A. Gates, Kenneth O. (Elizabeth) Gates and Kevin B. (Missy) Gates; daughter-in-law, Lois Gates (John) McCoy; his sister, Alfreda Bullard and six grandchildren, Rebecca Gates, Alex (Becca) Gates, Sarah (Zach) LeBlanc, Owen (Sarah) Gates, Turner Gates and Hope Gates; two great-grandchildren, Sledge and Susie Gates; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 24, 2015 beginning at 11:00 AM at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 12:00 Noon. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
