Curtis Bruce Smith, Sr., age 79, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 29, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Isaac Smith and Velma Lucile Hudson Smith. Bruce, as he was known by his family, was a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL; retired from the Mobile Fire Department; a US Navy Veteran and a member of Government Street Baptist Church. His survivors include his wife, Rosemary Kirk Smith; one son, Curtis Bruce "Curt" (Kirsten) Smith, Jr.; two daughters, Linda Smith (Andrew) Claxton and Lisa Smith (Robert) Luther; sister, Beatrice "Bea" Smith (Earl) Thompson; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. A memorial service, officiated by Dr. Charles Brown, will be held Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM from Government Street Baptist Church.
