Pace, Florida

Darrel L. Taylor, age 72, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and accomplished television producer, passed away peacefully at his home in Pace, Florida, on April 24, 2025.

Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Darrel developed a deep connection to his community and an early passion for storytelling. He was the son of the late Harold and Callie (Musgrove) Taylor of Mobile, Alabama.

Darrel graduated from the University of Montevallo, where he obtained his degree in broadcasting/journalism, setting the foundation for a successful career in the field. His work spanned decades and cities, beginning in his hometown of Mobile and extending to Louisville, Kentucky, where he made significant contributions to local television. His career also took him across the country, including to Los Angeles and Hollywood, where he had the opportunity to meet and work alongside many in the entertainment industry—including memorable encounters with figures like Dan Rather and Betty White. Through his dedication as a television producer, Darrel brought important stories to life and helped shape the way communities stayed informed and inspired.

Above all, Darrel was a devoted family man. He was married to Gail, the love of his life, for 49 wonderful years, and she will carry on his memory with her loving heart and steadfast strength. Together they raised three sons: Brian (married to Alicia Taylor), Jacob, and Joshua (married to Manuel Esguerra). He was a proud and doting grandfather to Roman, Giana, and Amara, who brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his sister, Pamela Cicchetti, a niece, and several nephews, and loving and adoring cousins who cherished their time with him. Darrel will be remembered for his warmth, integrity, and unwavering dedication to both his family and his craft. His impact on the people around him—both personally and professionally—will be felt for generations.
