David Allan Turner

David Allen Turner, age 78, passed away on March 28, 2026, after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Fort Payne, Alabama. David graduated from Alabama School for the Deaf in 1969, where he played football. In 1970, he began working at Smith's Bakery and retired from Sara Lee Bakery after 40 years of dedicated work. He was an avid University of Alabama football fan.

David is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 53 years, Jacqueline Lavelle Hamilton Turner. He is also preceded by his parents: Edgar Roland Turner and Hazel Pearl Hester Turner; his sister, Evelyn Lanier; brothers: Weldon Grant Turner, Elton William Turner, Roland Dale Turner, and James Lewis Turner. He is survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mobile Infirmary and The Retreat, Hospice by Saad for their care and compassion.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Rd., Mobile, Alabama. The funeral service will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
