Delton Earl Havard laid down his working tools to go Home to be with the Lord on Sunday September 21, 2025, after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer. He was 75 years old and passed peacefully at home.
He was born in Mobile, Alabama, on February 3, 1950, to Ford and Mary Havard of Semmes, Alabama. He was the twelfth of sixteen children. He graduated from Mary G. Montgomery High School in 1970. He was a master meat cutter and a plant manager of South Alabama Custom Meats for many years. He and Sharon are members of Azalea Baptist Church where they were married in 1987.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sharon Boling Havard; his daughter, Della Ann Havard-Echols; two grandchildren: Dericka Annice Echols and Stoney Claybon Byrd, Jr. from his first marriage to Annice Anderson Havard. He was preceded in death by eight siblings and is survived by seven siblings.
He was a Mason. In 1981, he was initiated and progressed through his Masonic career to serve as Most Worshipful Grand Master of Masons of the State of Alabama 1996-1997. At the time, he was the youngest Mason to serve as Grand Master. He was currently serving as Secretary of his home lodge, Loop Lodge #895 F&AM in Mobile, Alabama.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens, 6040 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, Alabama. Visitation is prior to the service from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Pastor Ray Anderson will lead the funeral service, followed by Masonic Funeral Rites lead by Most Worshipful Past Grand Master Billy Jackson at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway.
Delton Earl Havard was a Christian, a Mason, husband, father, and a grandfather. He was a kind and honorable man. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
