Dorothy Viola Harrison Greene passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, to be with
her Lord. She was born on February 6, 1930, in Little Rock, Mississippi, to her parents,
Millard Harrison and Ada Holifi eld Harrison, who sadly passed when she was very
young. Her father later remarried, and Ms. Dot gained a stepmother named Jewel Parks
Harrison, who helped raise Ms. Dot as her own. She was the youngest and the only girl
of the fi ve children.
In 1964, she was married to her fi rst husband, Julian "D" Doyle. She was never blessed
with children of her own but was thankful for her many stepchildren, whom she treated
as if they were her own. They spent a little over 13 years together before "D" passed
away, which left her heartbroken. Later in life, Ms. Dot moved from Mississippi to
Mobile, Alabama, where she met her second and fi nal love, Russell Park Greene. They
were married for 32 years, and she gained more wonderful stepchildren.
Ms. Dot was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Tillmans Corner. For many
years, she served on the counting committee until her eyesight failed her. She was also
involved in many community outreaches. She was in the FBTC ministries, where she
made up boxes for the Shoe Box Ministry. She often got candy together for the Fall
Festival for children and, of course, she needed to sample it for the safety of the
children. She would often visit the homebound ministry and was in the card-writing
program.
Dot loved oil painting, with fl owers and landscapes being her favorite subjects, as you
could tell if you ever visited her home. She would often host card games at her house.
Ms. Dot was what you called a "Southern classic beauty," schooled in manners, being a
wonderful hostess, and taking great care of herself and others. She shared Jesus' love
with those she came in contact with every day. She will be sorely missed by those who
knew her. She loved Jesus and never missed an opportunity to share His love with
others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard Harrison and Ada Holifi eld Harrison,
and bonus mother, Jewel Parks Harrison. She was also preceded in death by her fi rst
husband, Julian "D" Doyle, her second husband, Russell Sparks Greene, and her siblings:
Herman (Louise) Harrison, Leon (Margaret) Harrison, Lewis (Ruby) Harrison, and John
Morris (Linda) Harrison.
She is survived by her bonus children and their families: OG (Diane) Greene, and Barbara
Greene (Robert) Armstrong; Jeff (Michele) Greene, Traci (Chuck) Brunner, Brian
(Jessica) Armstrong, Benjamin (Rylee) Armstrong, Isabella Armstrong, Bette Armstrong,
Jana and Jadyn Armstrong. She is also survived by Jerry Doyle, Michael Doyle, and
Patricia Doyle, along with many more Doyle family members, nieces, nephews,
grandchildren, extended family, friends, and many neighbors. When you live into your
nineties, names can slip your mind, but there is a host of many wonderful people that
crossed paths with Ms. Dot.
A message Ms. Dot wanted to leave with all of you: "Don't be sad that I'm gone, because
I am with Jesus. The Bible says in John 14:3, 'And if I go and prepare a place for you, I
am coming again and will take you to Myself, so that where I am, there you also will be'
(NASB). I stand on the promises. I will see 'Jesus' and also be reunited with 'D,' my baby,
and Russell, to name a few of those who have gone before me... I've always wondered
what Heaven would be like, but 1 Corinthians 2:9 says, 'However, as it is written: 'What
no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived,' the
things God has prepared for those who love Him.'"
Services for Ms. Dorothy Viola Harrison Greene will be held on October 8, 2025, at
Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m., and
a chapel service will follow at 12 p.m.
