Dwight Anderson

November 3, 1960 — April 20, 2025

Dwight Carl Anderson Sr., a joy to all, was born on November 3, 1960, to the late Sidney Anderson and Agnes Hudson-Anderson.

Known by some as “DUTT,” he embraced his role as a husband and father with unwavering love and commitment. Dwight was a caring, loving, honorable, and family-oriented individual. Above all things, providing for and loving on his wife and children was his pride and joy.

On June 10, 2009, he was united in holy matrimony to Jessica “Tori” Maddox. Dwight was richly blessed with six beautiful children who loved him dearly: Dwight Carl Anderson Jr., Layla Anderson, Nevaeh Anderson, Serra Clark, Ashley Dumas and Brandon Anderson. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Agnes Anderson. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that, “To everything, there is a season….” and on Sunday, April 20, 2025, Dwight Carl Anderson Sr’s earthly journey came to a peaceful close in Mobile, Alabama. His life is a testimony to faith, love and service. A cherished memory that will forever remain in the hearts of those who love and knew him. God saw Dwight getting tired and a cure was not to be. He placed His loving arms around him and whispered, “Come to me!” And when we saw our dad sleeping so peacefully and free from pain, we wouldn’t wish him back to suffer because with Christ he would gain. Today we gather to celebrate his life and say “goodbye” as he takes his final rest, knowing that God’s garden has to be beautiful because Dwight is one of the best.

“My father was an honorable and outstanding man. He was my role model and the person I inspired to be like throughout everything that happened.” --DJ

“My dad was a very sweet man from the heart. He was a very generous man and gave us anything we needed and didn’t want for nothing. I was super thankful for him, but sad to see him go. I know good things don’t last forever, but my love for him does.” --Layla

“My father showed up in one of the darkest parts of my life, and brightened it up. He filled a void in my heart I’ve held for many years and exceeded more than all my expectations for a father & a man. I may not have known him all my life, but I’m so grateful that I was blessed to be in the rest of his. The way he showed up for me emotionally, financially, and mentally regardless of his own struggles made me admire his strength as a man & a father. I am so proud to be his daughter. Until we meet again….I love you Pops!” --Big Baby
