Edgar Tate Simmons Jr.

Edgar Tate Simmons Jr. was born in Magnolia, MS, on April 13th, 1941, and passed away on February 28th, 2026, at the age of 84. While Edgar's later years were spent in Kentucky, he spent his youth in Toulminville and graduated from Murphey High School, class of 1959. He later continued his education at the University of Southern Mississippi, class of 1964. Edgar was a Mason, Shriner and Scottish Rite for over 50 years.

Edgar was upbeat and enjoyed making others smile. He was a strong Southern Baptist who loved being outdoors. In their younger years, he and Louise enjoyed taking RV trips. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always up for a good game of Farkle and Dominoes. Edgar also enjoyed following college sports and was a staunch Alabama Football supporter and Florida Basketball fan.

He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all those who knew him.

Edgar is preceded in death by; his loving wife, Louise Simmons; his son, Edgar (Trey) Tate Simmons III; his father, Edgar Tate Simmons Sr.; and his mother, Anita Simmons.

He is survived by; his daughters, Ragan (Jordan) Davies and Susannah (Lou) Calahan; his grandchildren, Rachael (Chris) Doctorman, Erinn (Elvis) LeBaron, Hunter Davies, Garett (Carina) Davies, Alyssa Oakley, Matthew Oakley, Caroline Oakley; his great-grandchildren, Savannah (Alejandro) LeBaron; Elvis "EJ" (Mariela) LeBaron; Victoria LeBaron; Roman LeBaron; Lincoln LeBaron; Greyson LeBaron; Declan Doctorman; Sage Oakley; Gus Goldston; Beau Goldston; as well as a host of other family and friends.

The funeral service for Edgar will be held at 12 P.M. on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the services from 11 A.M. to 12 P.M., at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
