Edwina "Marie" (Crane) Gulsby
Born at home November 17, 1931 in Mobile, AL and big sister to her brother, Leslie Crane, Jr. Marie graduated from Murphy High School early at 11.5 years and went to work for Merchants National Bank as a bookkeeper. She loved to tell that she married the "boy next door", William "Bill" Houston Gulsby, Sr. on June 6, 1953. He was the love of her life. Soon she became a stay-at-home Mom to 4 children: Vicki Burk (Richard), William "Billy" Houston Gulsby, Jr. (Darlene Harris), Sharyn Fillingim (Greg).
Marie supported her family in all their endeavors. She was a Girl Scout Troop leader, softball assistant coach, baseball team mom and bookkeeper for the family business, Bill's Marine Service.
Marie loved Jesus and served her church, Grace United Methodist, as treasurer and choir member for 30+ years. She was a loving friend and an avid bowler at Skyline Lanes until she was 80 years old. She was a fan of all things Disney, Elvis, Alabama football and loved to work in her rose garden. She always made every holiday fun for the family with decorations and gifts. She was a collector of Barbies, Angels, owls and Disney movies. Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren call her "Memaw" and know her unfailing love for her family and her giving nature. She is proceeded in death by her loving husband and parents. This strong woman of God survived covid and hip replacement surgery to pass peacefully to heaven on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, just 22 days short of her 91st Birthday.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 1st, from 11:00-12:00 and the Chapel Service will follow at 12:00pm.
