Born in Greenville, Alabama on March 3rd, 1933. In 1940 he and his family moved to Foley, Alabama where he worked on the potato farms to help support his family. From 1951 to 1954, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army where he fought and was wounded in the Korean War. In 1959 he married Frances Hendrix and was a faithful husband for 65 years until his death. Ellis accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior in 1969 and was a faithful servant until the Lord called him home. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents Winston and Della Hendrix, brothers Maurice, Elmer, and Erskine Hendrix. He is survived by his wife, Frances Hendrix, his two sons, Ted Hendrix (Patricia Hendrix) and Tracey Hendrix (Mary Hendrix), one sister, Dell Walston, and three grandchildren, Johnathan Hendrix and Jeremy Hendrix from Atlanta, Georgia, and Summer Hendrix from Theodore, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 12 noon. Visitation will be 11am until service time Friday at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
