Floyd Ray Hall, Jr.

Floyd Ray Hall Jr., son of Floyd Ray Hall Sr. and Reba Jean Shows Hall, was born on November 12, 1946, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and went home to be with the Lord on July 2, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonita "Bonnie" Kay Bell Hall; son, Floyd Ray Hall, III (Kristi Ready Hall); daughter, Amanda Kay Hall Jones (William Lee Jones); four grandchildren: Joshua Hall, William Hall, Thomas Hall, and Virginia Hall; two great grandsons: Brayson and Baylen Hall; brother, Kenneth Randall Hall (Donna Bullington Hall); sister, Kathy Jean Bedsole (Greg Bedsole); and many other relatives.

He was a graduate of W. P. Davidson High School class of 1965 where he played the trumpet in the marching band. He served six years in the Alabama Army National Guard where he played in the 31st infantry Dixie division band and later as a cook in the 161st medical battalion. He married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie, on July 23, 1966, when they eloped to Lucedale, Mississippi. They were blessed with two wonderful children who were their pride and joy.

Ray was a family man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. He loved his family very much. More importantly, Ray was a very spiritually minded person, giving his heart and life to Jesus many years ago. He was an active member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church for over 50 years. He served as a deacon, choir member, prayer warrior, and witness for Jesus every chance he had. When he was a member of the Joy Singers at CHBC, he had the opportunity to sing a solo for the first and only time in his life. He sang both verses of "The Longer I Serve Him the Sweeter He Grows," and did a really good job singing from his heart. He was a man of the highest character, honesty, morality, and integrity. He never compromised his convictions.

Ray spent over 35 years working in industrial sales for McJunkin Corporation, Standard Equipment Company, and Turner Supply. When he was 57, he became unable to work because of severe back pain, so he retired on disability. He continued to live life as best he could until the last few years. He knew that one day he would be completely healed and would have no more pain or sorrow for eternity with Jesus. His first and foremost desire was that everyone in his family would know Jesus and live for him.

A viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, Alabama. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with burial immediately following the service at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
