GAYNELLE BRADLEY COGGIN
Mrs. Gaynelle Bradley Coggin, born in Mobile, Alabama on March 8, 1939, passed away on June 23, 2026, at age 87. She was a life-long resident of Mobile. She was predeceased by her parents, Louis Charles and Doris Thelma Bradley; sister, Darlyne Joanne Mahoney; grandson, Kristofer R. Coggin; and former husband, William D. Coggin, Sr.
She is survived by daughter, Christine Coggin Ray; sons, William D. Coggin, Jr. (Cathy); Louis Randolph Coggin; Luther Bradley Coggin (Dana); granddaughters, Lauren Coggin Maurin (Kevin); Shelby Nicole Ray, Lindsey Marie Ray, and grandson, Luke Bradley Coggin;
great-grandchildren, Kevin Raymond Maurin, III (Kip), Carter Grace Maurin, and Jackson Paul Moras, plus nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gaynelle was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who enjoyed family, church, charity, and civic club work over the years. She was happiest when she and family members gathered for holidays and birthdays, particularly across the bay and at Dauphin Island. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1957, attended Springhill College, and University of South Alabama.
She enjoyed playing bridge, golf, and traveling with her family and close friends.
She retired from the University of South Alabama after 25 years of service and worked for five years with USA Cruise Services as an embarkation agent with Carnival Cruise Lines. In the past years, she was an Alabama Realtor, she was an active volunteer with Mobile Jaycettes, Junior Women's Club of Mobile, Mobile Opera Guild, City Co-Chairman with the Mobile Mother's March of Dimes Drive for two years, a volunteer with Bellingrath Gardens, an officer with AFWC Jubilee Women's Club, member of District VII of the Federated Women's Clubs of Alabama and member of the Cosmopolitan Club of Mobile.
Funeral services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. service. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association or St. Jude's Hospital.
