George Edward Connell, Jr., a native of Mobile, AL, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the age of 78. He was a fire fighter for the City of Mobile for many years; a member of the US Coast Guard Reserves and an avid Alabama football fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Edward Connell, Sr. and Sadie Chambless Connell; his wife, Colleen Connell, and his brother, Michael David Connell. He is survived by his two children, Michele Connell Dumas and her husband, Vincent, and George Edward Connell, III; six grandchildren, Megan Baker Hines (Charles), Elizabeth Ann Dumas, Justin Rountree (Heather), Ross Rountree, Boyd Edward Connell and Matthew Joseph Connell; six great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Charlie Hines, Dempsey, Pipe and Rowan Rountree, and Peyton Connell; his brother, Paul Vincent Connell, Sr. (JoAnne); his sister, Lorna Connell Smith (Ronnie); a dear friend, Joseph Salata; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
