George Lundy, Sr.

George E. Lundy, Sr. of Mobile, AL passed away at the age of 81 on November 9, 2023 at Providence Hospital.

He was born in Mobile in 1942 to Ellis Lundy and Annie Theresa Lundy, and grew up in the Belle Fountain area and loved to fish, hunt and pull for the Alabama Crimson Tide. George graduated from McGill Catholic High School, then went to work at Brookley Air Force Base where he first met his wife Dorothy (Dottie) Pocase, whom he was married to for 56 years. He later worked at Union Carbide and then Jack B. Kelly. Together they have 4 children and 6 grandchildren. He attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and was a Eucharistic minister for many years and was also a charter member.

George was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by Dorothy Ann Lundy, George E. Lundy, Jr. (Karen), Cherie Lundy Donivan (John), Michael D. Lundy and Joseph A. Lundy (Lori) and grandchildren Michael Harp, Joshua Lundy, Jacob Lundy, Sarah Lundy, George E. Lundy III (Tres) and Catherine Donivan.

The wake is November 16, 2023 from 5:00-8:00 pm and the rosary at 7:00 pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home located at 6040 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, AL 36619. The Mass of Christian Burial is November 17, 2023 at 11:00 at St. Vincent de Paul Parish located at 6625 Three Notch Rd. Mobile, AL 36619. Donations to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church would be greatly appreciated.

The Lundy family would like to thank Msgr. James Kee, Father Stephen Vrazel, Father Elijah and the Benedictine Monks of the Devine Will, Msgr. Michael Sexton, Dr. Danuel Laan, Dr. William Poor, Dr. Charles Johnson, Dr. Daniel Pollman and Dr. Stephanie Grosz plus many family and friends that prayed for us during this difficult time.
