Gilbert Moulton Lundy Sr was born the 6th of eight children on November 22, 1931 to Fred and Bessie Lundy in Mobile, Alabama.
Upon graduating the University Military School (Mobile, AL) in 1941, Gilbert enrolled in Norman Junior College (Norman, GA). There he met the love of his life, Loretta Taylor, from Adel, Georgia. Both moved on to Mercer University (Macon, GA) where they graduated in 1953 and wed August 7, 1953.
The newly weds moved to New Orleans where Gilbert attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where he received a Masters of Divinty in 1956. While in New Orleans, Gilbert and Loretta welcomed their first born Gilbert Jr (Bert) in 1954.
After Seminary, Gilbert embarked on a lifetime of ministry becoming a Pastor of Westgate Baptist Church of Mobile, AL. While at Westgate, his second son, Marshall, was born in 1958.
From 1962-1968 Gilbert served as the Minister of Education at Springhill Baptist in Mobile, AL.
Gilbert moved on to Texas where he joined the First Baptist Church of Plano, TX for the next 25 years in a variety of roles including Associate Pastor, Minister of Education and Business Administrator. In addition to his Pastoral duties, Gilbert found additional ways to serve his community including being a Police Chaplain for the city of Plano, TX.
Gilbert didn't let his busy schedule and career impede upon family. He found time to the very best husband to Loretta Lundy, the best father to his sons Bert Lundy (Minerva) and Marshall Lundy (Sonya), the grandest of Grand Dads to Miriam Ward (Chris), Benjamin Lundy, Tom Lundy, Dana Martinez and Alba Holsworth (John).
Gilbert is servived by his loving wife, Loretta, his two sons and many grand children, great grand children and nieces and nephews, including his beloved sister, Iris Lundy Anderson ( Billy).
He will be greatly missed. Those who knew him knows he is with the Lord Jesus.
