Glenda Mathis-West

Glenda Mathis-West was born on November 25, 1938, and peacefully went to be with her Heavenly Father on December 23, 2025.

Glenda was a remarkably strong woman whose life was rooted in unwavering faith. She was a devoted great-grandmother, grandmother-lovingly known as Grandma and GG-mother, sister, and faithful servant of God. Her walk with the Lord was evident in everything she did. She was graceful, loving, kind-hearted, and wise, and she lived her life as a reflection of God's love.

Glenda retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after more than 30 years of dedicated service. She also served faithfully as Worthy Matron of the local Order of the Eastern Star, demonstrating leadership grounded in integrity and compassion.

She showed her love through her actions, her prayers, and her gentle guidance. She taught those around her by example how to live with love, patience, humility, and compassion. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she trusted God in all seasons.

For many years, Glenda touched the lives of countless children through her work in Sunday school, faithfully planting seeds of faith that extended far beyond the classroom and into the hearts of families and generations. Her love for teaching God's Word shaped many lives, and her legacy will continue through those she nurtured and guided.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don A. Mathis; her parents, Harry and Annie Hill; her grandson, Carter Mathis; and her great-granddaughter, Mekala Matthews.

She loved her family fiercely and faithfully. She is survived by her sister, Barbara (Paul) Topper; her daughter, Sherene (Buster) Mason; her sons, Royce (Pam) Mathis and Dr. Curtis (Dr. Frankie) Mathis.

She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Ryan (Bridget) Mason, Bryan (Alicia) Mason, Brent (Hannah) Mason, Camdon Mathis, Andrew Keith, Katie (Spencer) Logsdon, Abbie Eubanks, Carmen Mathis, and Courtney Jenkins.

She was further blessed with five wonderful great-grandsons and two beautiful great-granddaughters, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Glenda's life was a testimony of faith, love, and service. While she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices in knowing she is now whole, healed, and rejoicing in the presence of her Savior
