Glenn Callahan

December 27, 1940 — February 20, 2024

Glenn B. Callahan, 83, of Semmes, AL went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

Glenn was born in Wichita Falls, Texas. He grew up in Eight Mile, Alabama, where he attended Vigor High School. As a young man, Glenn grew up loving street rods and enjoyed the occasional drag race with his buddies. His love for street rods extended into adulthood. He built many beautiful street rods, with the help of his friends over the years, and attended rod runs all over the United States where he often came away with trophies. When Glenn was not working on cars you could find him on the water. He enjoyed both saltwater and freshwater fishing with his father, brothers and friends.

Glenn and the love of his life, Beverly Sue Wiilliams Callahan, met as teenagers and were married in December 1960. During their life journey together, his work took them to Gulfport, MS, Pearl, MS, Pensacola, FL, Mobile, AL, Monroe, LA, and Carthage, TX, before returning home to Semmes, AL in 1994.

Glenn worked at United Gas Pipeline Company for thirty-five plus years before retiring. Upon moving back to Semmes, he joined the South Alabama Utilities Company where he worked many years. Following retirement, Glenn served as a consultant for natural gas companies.

Glenn attended Wilmer Baptist Church where he enjoyed participating in Bible study groups and with the hospitality team, volunteering in the kitchen with Sue.

Glenn is preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Beverly Sue, mother, Ruby Pitts Callahan, father, Billie B. Callahan, brothers Jack Donald Callahan, Billy Joe Callahan and wife Peggy Crosby Callahan.

He is survived by his daughter, Charlotte C. Betar (Joe); grandsons, Joshua Harris, Zachary Betar (Natasha), Christopher Betar; great granddaughter, Francis Olivia Betar; nieces and nephews Steven Callahan, Robert Callahan (Katy), Terry C. King (Wayne), and Christy C Burnett; sister-in-law Brenda B. Stuart and nephews, Randy Stuart (Laura), Chris Stuart, Brad Stuart (Denise),
