Henry Benton Williams Sr.

Henry Benton Williams Sr., 89 of Mobile, AL departed this life Saturday June 13, 2026.

Benton was born on March 30, 1937, in Mobile, AL. Benton served in the US Navy until August 1955. He also served in the US Army until October 1968, after which he served in the US Army Reserved until 1977. He served The Free Masons of Alabama since 1963 until his death. He was a dedicated member of ABBA Shrine Temple from 1963 until his death. Past time activities included Motorcycles in sized from Cushman Eagles to full dresser Harley Davidsons. He was the original starting Red Buggy of the ABBA Dune Buggies. He loved a parade and the brotherhood. He ran an HVAC business/Electrical Company worked for the City of Mobile, in the Shipyards, and retired from Global Tel-Link telephone manufacture and service. Later in life he enjoyed spending time at The River house and watching his grandkids and great grandkids enjoy the river and the outdoors.

He was proceeded in death by his wife of 60 years Gloria McClure Williams. Father Henry Williams, Mother Martha Morgan Williams, Brother Robert Williams, Daughter Margaret Cooney.

He is survived by Sister Mary Ellen McDuffy, Daughter Deborah (Bobby) McCarty, Son Henry Bubba (Lois) Williams, Son William Alex (Laurie) Williams, Grandchildren Michael (Jessica) Cooney, Brandon (Brittany) Williams, Justin (Leigh) McCarty, Shane (Heidi) Cooney, Evan McCarty, Haley Williams, Jonathan McCarty. 16 Great Grandchildren, Brother in Law Wesley McClure Jr. (Tracey), nieces, nephews and family members.

Funeral services will be held at 12 P.M. on June 12, 2026, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens, Old Pascagoula Road, Theodore, AL. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 A.M. to 12 P.M. on June 12, 2026, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. After services the family would like to invite friends and family to the home of Alex and Sam Williams, 7451 Sonya Dr. Theodore, AL, for food and fellowship.
