Irvin Pierce

October 20, 1947 — May 2, 2025

Irvin Adam Pierce, 77, a native of Cut Off, Louisiana, and resident of Mobile, Alabama, died peacefully at 6:37 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Delorria Pierce; his daughter, Angelina Pohl (Steven); two sisters, Diana Lee (Louis) and Debra Cheramie (Wilton "Tony"); and two granddaughters who meant the world to him: Abigail "Abby" Madison and Cecilia "Cece" Marie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Eve Pierce; his sister, Annie Ella Pierce; and his brother, Johnny Pierce.

A proud veteran, Irvin served honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.

His life was one of faith, sacrifice, and love-he was a devout Catholic and deeply committed to his family and community, as shown through his active participation in the Knights of Columbus and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

Beyond his military service and deep love for Jesus, Irvin cherished time spent with family and friends-especially during a lively game of poker. He had a true love for the game, but it was the stories, laughter, and fellowship around the table that he valued most.

Irvin also found great joy in the kitchen. A proud Cajun, he loved to cook and was happiest when sharing a homemade gumbo, boiling crawfish, or serving up a big pot of jambalaya. His meals were more than just food-they were acts of love and tradition passed down through generations.

To his family, he was lovingly known as "Papi"-a name that perfectly captured his gentle heart and playful spirit. His two granddaughters were the light of his life, and he took immense joy in every moment spent with them.

The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6300 McKenna Drive, Mobile, Alabama 36608. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Alejandro Valladares as celebrant. Internment will be in the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 34904 AL-225, Spanish Fort, Alabama, 36577. Military honors will be rendered at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

Eternal rest grant unto Irvin, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
