Richard Grogan, age 88, left this earth for his Heavenly home on April 30, 2026. Richard was born on March 3, 1938, in Prichard, Alabama, to Clyde Maurice Grogan and Lola Lee Saffold Grogan. Richard grew up in Prichard where he graduated from Vigor High School in 1957. After graduation he enrolled at Mississippi Southern College (University of Southern Mississippi). He studied business and was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. While he was in college, Richard joined the Alabama Army National Guard and was called to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After exploring a variety of career options Richard became an agent for State Farm Insurance where he operated a very successful agency for 48 years. He married the love of his life, Bobbie Marie Williams Grogan, on May 8, 1988. With their deep faith in God and limitless love for each other they built a marriage that was a guiding light for many. Throughout his life Richard built a circle of friends that has remained forever connected. He greeted everybody with a strong handshake and friendly smile. He always had a humorous story to share that pulled all friends into the warmth of his friendship. Richard, an avid golfer, played the game with glee and a vengeance. He loved the game and the community he developed around the game. The life he lived reflected his love of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Above all, his great desire was for as many people as possible to accept Jesus. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Lola Grogan. He is survived by his beloved Bobbie. Additional survivors include cousins Pam Tennison Arthur and Leslie Tennison Kennedy, brother-in-law, Craig (Carol) Williams, sister-in-law, Mary Lou (Rob} Casey, nieces Elizabeth (David) Miller and Clair Williams, nephew, Robby Casey and great nephews Wyatt and Rhett Pullen and A.J. Miller. Richard was a member of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church, 445 Azalea Road, Mobile, 36609 where a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 . Visitation will be at 11:00 A.M. with a service at noon. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations to Christ Fellowship Baptist Church, P.O. Box 9607, Mobile, Alabama 36609.
