Obituary

In Loving Memory of James Dale Ryals Sr.

James Dale Ryals Sr., of Theodore, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving and faithful wife of 64 years, Beth Ryals in the Home they built and cherished together.

Born on September 10, 1943, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, James was raised in McHenry, Mississippi, by his beloved grandmother, Lula, whose love, guidance, and strength helped shape the remarkable man he would become. Throughout his life, James exemplified integrity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to family.

Known as "Slick" among his high school friends, James was admired for his friendly nature, quick wit, and ability to make lasting connections wherever he went. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

For more than fifty years, James worked as a builder and business owner, earning a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship, honesty, and hard work. He took tremendous pride in creating homes and structures that would stand the test of time, just as he built a life founded on faith, dedication, and perseverance.

Above all else, James treasured his family. He shared 64 wonderful years of marriage with Beth, the love of his life, and found his greatest joy in the family they built together. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather whose wisdom, guidance, and unwavering love will continue to live on through the generations he helped shape.

James enjoyed racing cars, Alabama football, and spending time with family and friends. Whether cheering on the Crimson Tide, sharing stories, or simply enjoying the company of loved ones, he found happiness in life's simple blessings.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Beth Ryals; his children, Darlene Howard and Kevin Howard, Dale Ryals Jr. and Misty Ryals, and Jody Ryals Sr.; his grandchildren, Clint Howard, Zane Howard, Alexandria Graham, Zechariah Ryals, Mikayla Ryals, Chris Ryals, Jeremy Ryals, Jody Ryals Jr., Joanna Ryals, and Charlene Ryals; and sixteen treasured great-grandchildren.

James leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, faithfulness, and devotion to family that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, the example he set and the memories he created will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.

"A life built on love, faith, and family leaves a legacy that endures forever."

Visitation will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. graveside service in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
