James Loyd Smith, Jr., 76 passed on 9 February 2026. Born in Jellico, Tennessee 22 August 1949. He was preceded in death by his parents Rheba Berniece Smith and James Loyd Smith, Sr., step brother James Edwin Lively, and sister Diannah Elizabeth Smith. James (Jim) is survived by his wife of 45 years Wanda Kay (Mills) Smith of Chickasaw Alabama, daughter Candice Renee Smith (Will) Lozano of Vine Grove, Kentucky, and three step sons Victor Elton (Dana) Stamey, Jr., Kenneth Dean Stamey, Michael Derek (Amanda) Stamey and many grand/great grand-children.
A proud United States Army veteran Jim served his country with honor. After serving in the Army he continued his education, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree, Wright State University; Master of Public Service Degree, Western Kentucky. He continued his service to the United States by serving as a federal government civilian until his retirement when he moved to Florida. He was a dedicated fan of the Ohio States Buckeyes (GO BUCKS!) and rarely missed a game. He had a love for music, and was happy with a microphone in his hand hosting Karaoke and singing Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley songs. He and Kay moved to Pensacola, Florida where they made it their forever home. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visitation will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. graveside service. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
