James "Troy" Davis, 60, long time resident of Eight Mile, AL passed away peacefully August 4th, 2026 at 11:45 PM, at The Retreat, by SAAD Hospice in Mobile, AL.
Born in Terre Haute, IN in 1965, Troy graduated from Montezuma High School in 1983 and then joined the United States Army Reserves. He served between 1984 - 1990, earning the rank of E-4 Specialist. During this time, Troy made his way down south, meeting the love of his life before settling down in the Mobile area.
He was preceded in death by his parents James "Jim" Davis and Janeen K. Davis, his aunt Shirley M. Davis, and dear friend David A. Brannan Sr.
Troy is survived by his wife of 37 years, Tracy L. Davis; his two children, James T. Hardman (Allyson) of Danville, IN and Alisha L. Davis-Sonnier (Joshua) of Mobile, AL; and his grandson, Ezra J. Sonnier. He is also survived by three brothers, J.D. Nickles; Eric Davis; and Braxton "Ben" Hardman (Sally), and his sister, Chelsie L. Davis, along with many loving friends.
Troy was a skilled house painter, known for his clean work and attention to detail. He worked for AHEPA Senior Living for 16.5 years as a Maintenance Supervisor before retiring due to health complications. Troy was known for his sense of humor and bringing joy to the residents of AHEPA. He was an avid LA Rams and Auburn football fan and collector, as noted by his "Sports Room". Troy often could be found grilling and watching NASCAR with his family outside in his man cave. He enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, and spending time with friends on "The Hill".
