James was born on January 28, 1955, in Stuttgart, Germany, to James Franklin Graham and Barbara Jean (Bertram) Graham. He was the oldest of four children, and is survived by his sisters, Sheila (Mike, dec) Smith, Pamela (Daryl) Crosby, and Denise (Ed) Cables.
He graduated from Satsuma High School in 1974 and earned a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Alabama 1977.
James dedicated his life to serving and protecting his community through a long and honorable career in law enforcement. He began his career in 1978 with the Chickasaw Police Department, later joining the Mobile Police Department in 1989, and completed his law enforcement service with the Dauphin Island Police Department in 2023.
In 2008, James married his beloved wife, Cynthia Graham, and together they built a life centered on family.
He was a proud father to "the girls," Sarrah (Curtis) Horton, Brittany Bowron, and Kirsten (Adam, dec.) Loper. He was a cherished grandfather to Cade, Tallulah, Emory, Barrett, & Alex. He loved watching his grandkids on the ball field or on the stage, always cheering them on with pride.
He is also survived by two bonus children, Bryan (Joan) Dailey and Charity (Jim) Hudson, as well as grandchildren Wade and Trey, and five great-grandchildren.
James will be remembered for his dedication to law enforcement, his love of Alabama football, and the pride he carried in being "Daddy" and "Pawpaw."
