In Loving Memory of Janet Nix (née Douglas)
Janet Nix, a beloved wife, mother, educator, and dedicated advocate for children, will be remembered for her warm heart, her wonderful sense of humor, her strong convictions, and her lifelong commitment to helping others.
Janet was a loving and compassionate woman who consistently put the needs of others ahead of her own. She had a strong moral compass and was never afraid to stand up for what she believed was right. Her sense of humor brought laughter to those around her, while her caring nature and generous heart made her someone others could turn to for support. She lived her values every day, not simply through what she said, but through the way she treated people.
Janet's Christian faith was an important part of her life and was reflected in her care for others, her commitment to doing what was right, and her determination to stand up for those who needed a voice. The principles she cherished were evident in both her personal life and her dedicated service to children and families.
Janet devoted her professional life to education, serving students and families throughout the Mobile County Public School System. She began her career teaching gifted students at the high school level, helping young people recognize their abilities and reach their potential. Her dedication to students eventually led her to the school system's central office.
In this role, Janet continued her commitment to ensuring that children, especially those with special needs, received the educational support and opportunities they deserved. She worked to advocate for students whose needs required understanding, attention, and support, believing that every child deserved the opportunity to learn and thrive. Her years of service stand as an important part of her professional legacy.
Above all, Janet was more than her career and accomplishments. She was a wife, a mother, a sister, and a woman whose love and laughter left a lasting impression on those around her. Her family and friends will remember her caring spirit, her sense of humor, her unwavering principles, and the many ways she put others first.
Janet is survived by her beloved husband, John Michael Nix; her children, Michael Nix, Douglas McAdory, Joseph Nix, and Rebekah Wales, her grandchildren Ethan, Aislinn, Glenn, and Annabel and her brothers, Albert Douglas and John Douglas Jr.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Carole Douglas, and her parents, John and Betty Douglas.
Janet's legacy lives on in the students whose lives she influenced, the families she supported, and the loved ones who will forever cherish her memory. She leaves behind an example of compassion, integrity, dedication, and love. The difference she made through her work and the warmth she shared with others will continue to be remembered long after her passing
