Obituary

In Loving Memory of Jimmy Joe "Joey" Dickens Jr.

August 11, 1976 - October 25, 2026

Jimmy Joe "Joey" Dickens Jr., age 50, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Joey was truly one of a kind. He was the kind of man who could walk into a room and instantly change the atmosphere. His larger-than-life personality, infectious laughter, and unforgettable presence brought smiles to everyone around him. He never met a stranger, and if you had the pleasure of meeting Joey even once, chances are you never forgot him.

Joey loved hard, worked hard, and played hard. He was a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and someone who would give the shirt off his back to help another person. His generosity knew no bounds, and his love for those closest to him ran deep.

His loyalty was unwavering, and his friendship was something truly special. It didn't matter what time of the day or night you called him, where he was, or what he was doing. If you needed Joey, he was coming. He was the kind of friend who would drop everything to be by your side, never asking for anything in return. When Joey loved you, he loved you wholeheartedly, and you never had to question whether he would be there when you needed him.

Joey had a special love for the water. Some of his happiest moments were spent on his boat, enjoying time with family and friends. He loved going to the beach, riding through the mud at mud parks, grilling, cooking, and bringing everyone together for a good time. Wherever Joey was, there was sure to be laughter, good food, and memories being made.

Joey also took pride in his appearance. In his younger years, he loved working out, spending time in the gym, showing off his muscles, and making sure his hair looked just right. And anyone who knew Joey remembers that unmistakable strut of his. He had his own way of walking, sometimes almost on his tiptoes, with a confidence and personality that were all his own.

Raised in church, Joey had a strong foundation of faith and knew the Lord throughout his life. His faith was an important part of who he was.

Family meant everything to Joey. He especially cherished his Meemaw, whom he loved dearly and would have done anything for. He had a special place in his heart for children and found great joy in being surrounded by the people he loved.

Joey took great pride in the life he built and the things he worked hard for. Whether it was a new motorcycle, a boat, or something else he'd worked hard to get, Joey couldn't wait to show it off to the people he loved. It wasn't about showing off what he had; it was about sharing his excitement with everyone around him. He was grateful for his blessings and never missed an opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.

For more than ten years, Joey proudly served as Chief Operating Officer of Legacy Group Holdings. His dedication, tireless work ethic, and unwavering loyalty were instrumental in the company's success. But Joey's place at Legacy went far beyond his title or responsibilities. He was family, in every sense of the word. His commitment to the people around him, his willingness to go above and beyond, and the relationships he built over the years left a lasting mark on the entire Legacy family. His absence will be felt deeply, not only in the workplace, but in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of sharing their lives with him.

Joey will be remembered not simply for what he accomplished, but for how he made people feel. He had a gift for making people laugh, bringing people together, and making ordinary moments extraordinary.

His presence could fill a room, his laughter could brighten the darkest day, and his love will remain in the hearts of those who knew him forever.

Joey also shared a special bond with Elias David Sanchez Ordonez, who became much more than a friend or coworker. He was a cherished member of the family, and their relationship was built on love, loyalty, and genuine friendship.

Preceded in Death

Joey was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Dr. George Abercrombie and Jesse Dickens.

A Life Never Forgotten
