Joe Beuk Wassam

June 4, 1939 — January 6, 2022

On Thursday, January 6th, 2022, Joe Ann Beuk Wassam, loving wife, mother of two children, passed away at the age of 82.

Joe Ann was born on June 4th, 1939 in Roanoke, AL to Mildred Meachum (Daniel) Taylor and Joseph Daniel. Joe Ann graduated from Murphy High School in Mobile, AL, in 1957, and married her sweetheart Wayne Beuk in Sept. of 1958. Joe Ann and Wayne were blessed with two children Christy and Todd.

Joe Ann, Wayne, Christy, and Todd made their home on Wardwood Circle in Theodore where Joe Ann was a homemaker who ran a fun and frugal household. Sadly, in Oct,1983, after 25 years of marriage, Joe Ann lost Wayne to a tragic accident.

In November of 1995 Joe Ann married Loey Wassam. In addition to a new husband, Joe Ann became a step mom to two loving daughters, Linda and Diane, as well as various dogs, cats, horses, cows, turtles and donkeys. Joe Ann and Loey were happily married until her passing.

Joe Ann was a prankster, light hearted and quick with a smile. She most enjoyed time with her family, her children, step children, grandchildren, sisters, and husband. In her later years her declining health made it difficult to travel, but she and Loey were able to travel out west to visit Loey's childhood home in Colorado and to see some of our majestic national parks. She enjoyed these trips immensely and liked to relive these memories often. Those that know Joe Ann well, know that she enjoyed collecting rocks both large and small from any place she ever visited.

Joe Ann was a Christian who believed in Christ as our Savior, she was a member of the Bellingrath Road Church of Christ.

Joe Ann is survived by her husband Loey, her daughter Christy (Stan) Thomas, her son Todd (Lani) Beuk, step daughters Linda Harden and Diane (Bill Nicholson) Black. Her grandson Matthew and step grandchildren Julie, Destin, Jacob, and Jared as well as numerous great grandchildren. Her sisters Dorothy Taylor and Fay Firster. Her nieces and nephews; Desire' (Andrew) Thompson, Kevin (Donna) Beuk, Melisssa Mclarty, Michelle (Lee) Waltman, Thersa Beuk, and Jason (Angela Hutchings) Firster.
