John Joseph Cox, age 77, resident of Irvington, AL. Was born March 3, 1949, and passed on June 24, 2026. John graduated from Biloxi High School in Biloxi MS. and continued his education at the University of Southern Mississippi Hattiesburg, where he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration. He retired 15years ago and his greatest passion during these years, has been rescuing older, special needs, and hospice dogs that no one wanted. There are several wonderful local rescues we would adopt from, as well as the animal shelter.

John is preceded in death by; his mother Doris Eggleston Cox; and his father Elton John Cox.

He is survived by; his loving wife of 34yrs Mary; his brother and sister-in-law William and Debbie Cox; his brother-in-law Dave Scriver; his bonus son and daughter, James McMath and Jori Burlison; his nephew and niece, Michael Cox and Diana Hoy; five (5) grandsons and many other relatives and friends

John's visitation will be Wednesday, July 1, 2026 from 5-7PM at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
