John Mcclung

Mr. John Irven McClung, 75, of Mobile, Alabama, gained his wings on August 10, 2021. He was born in Sweet Chalybeate, Virginia, to the late Theodore and Lucille McClung on August 5, 1946. He served in the United States Army as a Specialist during the Vietnam War. He then worked in construction up to his retirement.

John is survived by two daughters: Stacey Duke (Robert) of San Antonio, TX, and Dianna Frank (Matt) of Woodstock, VA, two sisters: Garnet Lynn (George) Dolin and Ruth Sellers, and one brother: TR McClung. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Damian Duke, Devin Duke, Desmond Duke, Kandyce Hamilton, Lilly (Alex) Herd, Emily Frank, Allison Frank, Bethany Laprad, Brandon Curry, Rosemary Colby, William Colby Jr.; three great-grandchildren: Linda Colby, Kimberly Moreno, and David Colby; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by one daughter: Tina Colby of Warrenton, VA, and one grandson: Joshua Laprad.

In his younger days, John was an avid street stock car racer and bowler. Upon retirement, he enjoyed golfing with friends. John loved to watch University of Alabama college football, Nascar racing, and any Science Fiction thriller. He was a caring brother, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend.

John will be placed in his final resting place at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama. We will be planning a Celebration of Life at a later time. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilefuneralservice.com.
