It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of John Paul Spearman, Jr., a man full of love and servitude. John was born in Birmingham, AL on June 30, 1946, and journeyed to be with the Lord on April 5, 2026. Throughout his 79 years of life, he touched countless lives.
John served his country honorably for 27 years in the United States Army, including time as a Special Forces Green Beret. He served with pride during the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and Operation Desert Storm. By the end of his career, John was highly decorated and the recipient of the prestigious Purple Heart. A devoted and disciplined man with a servant's heart, he continued his commitment to serving others through many years of service in law enforcement following his military retirement.
John enjoyed a wide range of hobbies, including fishing, hunting, scuba diving, and gunsmithing; most importantly, spending time with his beloved family and grandchildren. John never met a stranger - he made friends everywhere he went. He loved sharing the history of his military days, family memories, and his favorite sweet story of all - how he met his wife, Sharline. He loved helping others any way he could, touching so many lives, each one special in its own way.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him and will be remembered as a man of honor, dedication, and integrity.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Paul Spearman, Sr., and Patricia Spearman and stepmother, Charlotte Helen Spearman; sisters, Susan Brown and Valerie Franklin; and stepbrother, Jay Spearman.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 53 years, Sharline Spearman; daughters, Christy (Austin) Maytum and Wendy Spearman; grandchildren, Laci Vorster, Austin Maytum, Jr., and Hannah Maytum; brother, David Spearman; stepsisters, Melody Wesson and Tammy Sisson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and truly countless friends.
