Julia Fay Rushing

Julia Ewing Rushing a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother passed away peacefully at The Retreat on Sat. March 28, 2026, surrounded by her children, at the age of 84. A resident of Irvington, AL, she leaves behind a legacy of love for family and God and unshakeable strength in the face of hardship.

She is preceded in death by her parents Sylvia and William Ewing, her brother James Ewing, her sisters Olive Jean Sprinkle, Beaulah Hudson, Loretta Slade, Vivian Sprinkle and Lillie Ruth Shoemaker, and her son Jimmy Wayne Rushing.

She is survived by her devoted children: Kenneth Rushing, Tammy (Tony) Neely, Kathy (Michael) Hunt, Teresa (Dale) Roberts, Chancey Rushing and her bonus child Christopher Mowry; as well as her grandchildren/great and great-great grandchildren: Christopher, Jennifer, Kenny, Julia (Alden), Ducky (Audra), Tony (Mallory), Kimberlyn (Joshua), Justin (Lynae), Brandy (Andrew), Terry (Brianna), Gabe, Susan, Noah, Destiny, Aaron, Coby, Jace, Ashlyn, Dalton, Annalee, Serinity, Dayton, Kase, Addi, Dawson, Drew, Madilyn, Ryleigh, Presley, Kristi, Dylan, Charleigh, Ella Rose, Carson, Ava, Maeve and Norah.

She was a member of Bellingrath Road Baptist Church and she pursued a life to please the Lord. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and playing with all her puppies.

Her family would like to extend a special thanks to Pastor Mike for being committed to visiting and praying with her during her many medical battles. They would also like to thank Sadd's Hospice Services for caring for their loved one with such dignity and compassion.

Funeral services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Thurs. April 2nd. The wake will be from 10:30-11am for family, 11am-12pm for friends. The funeral will begin at 12pm. Graveside service will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Irvington immediately following.
