Laura Breland Smith

Laura Breland Smith, age 96, passed away in Mobile,AL on February 17, 2026. Mrs. Smith was born on October 19, 1929, in Perry County Mississippi. She was a career educator, retiring in 1989 after 30 years of teaching. She was also a longtime member of Springhill Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith loved reading, crafting, shopping, and spending time with her family whom she loved dearly.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Smith; daughter, Karen Jones; parents, Malone and Elizabeth Bond Breland; and siblings, Roland, Vivian, Olvie, Ray, Bonnie, and Norris.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Hal (Angela) Smith; grandchildren, Melissa, Kaylee, Griffin, Austin, and Abby; great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Sadie, Wyatt, Reagan, Abram, Valen, Jameson, Cohen, and Blake; devoted, lifelong best friend, Peggy Gilley; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. Memorial Service on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
