Lenora Simmons

Lenora Euphemia Simmons (Femie) was born March 7, 1924 in Marion, AL. She was raised in a large family and was one of 10 children. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Donald E. Simmons and sons Ronald and Daniel. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susie Simmons Clontz and Ron Clontz, grandson Jason Clontz and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Sue Carnley and Myrna Driskell of Mobile, AL, and her brother, Gilbert and wife Pauline Moody from Virginia Beach, VA.
Femie and her husband spent 20 years in the military followed by 20 years with GE traveling extensively for her husband's careers. She was happy being wherever her husband was stationed.
"Whither thou goest, I will go". She was a loving Wife, Mother, Sister and Friend. She was an accomplished artist, an avid reader and lover of nature.
On her husband's passing in 1992, at their alma mater (Citronelle AL High School), she created a Memorial Scholarship program to assist a senior male and female student with their college choices. She funded this Scholarship for 15 years and by doing so made a difference in 30 students' lives.
Join us in celebrating her life, Friday, October 30th from 4 to 7 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home, Universal City, TX. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 1 P.M. and a funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers please donate to one or more of the following of Femie's favorite charities; Salvation Army, St Jude's Children's Hospital, SAMM Shelter of San Antonio, or Disabled American Veterans.
